Porcelain, Fimo pasta/ each piece : env. 30 cm x 10 cm - height : 7 cm / 2008- 2010

My statement . I present here an installation of some pieces called « birds ».This work is elaborate in 2008- 2011 .Materials : thrown and handbuilt porcelain ( 1280 °) and FIMO pasta.Birds are laying but we don’t know if they are just asleep or dead.Some vegetation is growing from the hole they have in the front of their bodies.With the porcelain, that gives his white and pure surface, I express that it can befailures and also a luxuriant and fertile world.This work is about a kind of « lost paradise »,« between beauty and decadence » , as a symbol of our world. Peace and violence, rest and death , wound or reconstruction , fertile life and hindrance , we are in an « in-between » position. We can feel a sort of mutilation but also a kind of redemption as if the life can be powerfull thenthe dark side of human nature ; life is a challenge, an adventure, we don’t ever knonw the final issue. Attraction and repulsion are in the heart of my work. The normality of what one can see is not the entire reality : something strange and curious can appear behind the appearances. I like to make the hidden face of things appear, all what the society or the moral would hide.

This installation is related to becoming a adult, the passage from childhood to the adult. This is a cross over between childhood, adolescence and adult position. There is also a crossing over human and animal even vegetal situation. All that is in relationship and the borders are not straight definable . Each sculpture is tosee as a little part of the whole and also like a tale in itself. All kind of mixed emotions are also related : joy and sadness, confidence and doubt , solidness and fragility, serious and humor together.
